If anyone can be a "citizen journalist", does that mean standards of journalism are falling? This is a question raging across the internet. There is no doubt that many citizen journalists do not adhere to some of the standards and conventions that established journalists do.
That said, the massive newsgathering power that citizen journalism is providing has enriched many stories. For instance, much of the footage coming out of Syria is shot on phones, not by major news outlets.
